Project description:

The project provides for actions to create a new social enterprise in Krumovgrad – a center for temporary accommodation of people in need, which will provide services to the local community, taking advantage of the exchange of experience with Greece and the creation of 2 offices to support social entrepreneurship – 1 in Krumovgrad, Bulgaria and 1 in Topiros, Greece, which will increase the provision of social services in communities in the cross-border area with poor socio-economic performance, will support the work in the field of social enterprises in cross-border region, the promotion and expansion of social entrepreneurship in the area.

The center for temporary accommodation of people in need, will contribute to improving the quality of life of those in need of home, in need of help to find a home, find a job, get new skills for social entrepreneurship.

This social enterprise will be a suitable alternative for solving the problems of a certain group in community -it will meet specific daily needs, organize free time and provide effective protection and social integration.

Project objective:

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the expansion of social entrepreneurship in the cross-border region of Bulgaria-Greece by providing support for the social integration of vulnerable groups and by creating a common tool to promote social entrepreneurship. It is in аccordance with the program ТО 09: “Promotion of social integration, the fight against poverty and against any discrimination.”

The specific objectives of the project are:

. Providing opportunities for housing and services from daily life for people in need in Krumovgrad through the establishment and operation of a Temporary Accommodation Centre in Krumovgrad for 21 people.

. Provide an additional opportunity for professionally and financially disadvantaged vulnerable groups to enter the labour market through the development of social entrepreneurship skills;

. Building capacity for the provision of services for temporary housing and for the development of social entrepreneurship in the region through training;

. Promotion of social entrepreneurship through the establishment of 2 offices in the cross-border region;

. Promoting EU policies for the provision of social services and the development of social entrepreneurship through planned information tools.

Type of activity:

The project activities will be carried out in Bulgaria and Greece. The project will be implemented in eligible programme areas at NUTS III-Kurdzhali area (BG) and Xanthi area (GR).

The project is in accordance with regional and municipal strategic development documents. In Bulgaria, in the city of Krumovgrad will be established Temporary Accomodation Centre for people in need as a new social enterprise.

In the municipality of Krumovgrad part of the building of the former district hospital will be renovated and equipped for the needs of the Center to accommodate people in need. An office for social entrepreneurship suppor will be created in the building of the city administration in Krumovgrad.

A social entrepreneurship support office will be established in the Topiros city administration building.

The activities to be carried out within the framework of the project are aimed at creating conditions for social networks, placement in the family and work related to social entrepreneurship.

Activities

The project activities will be implemented in Bulgaria and Greece. The project will be implemented in eligible program areas at NUTS III level – Kardjali (BG) and Xanthi (GR). The project is in line with regional and municipal development strategy papers. A Center for Temporary Placement of People in Need as a new social enterprise will be set up in Bulgaria in Krumovgrad. In the municipality of Krumovgrad part of the building of the former regional hospital will be reconstructed and equipped for the needs of the Center for accommodation of people in need. A 1 office to support social entrepreneurship will be set up in the building of the Krumovgrad municipal administration.

In the building of the Municipality of Topiros will be established 1 office for support of social entrepreneurship. The activities to be implemented under the project are aimed at creating conditions for social networking, household accommodation and employment related to social entrepreneurship.

Social entrepreneurship

A campaign for social entrepreneurship was held in the municipality of Krumovgrad, which is part of the project: “An integrated approach for social inclusion in the Bulgarian-Greek region through support for employment and development of social entrepreneurship”, with the acronym “ACCESS FOR ALL”, funded by the Program for cooperation INTERREG VA “Greece-Bulgaria, 2014-2020”.

Five seminars were held within the campaign. Employees of the social enterprises established under the project, as well as representatives of the municipality related to the provision of social services, participated in the seminars.

The topics of the seminars were dedicated to presenting different social alternatives for solving problems of particular groups in the community and aimed at promoting social entrepreneurship as an opportunity for the realization of people with innovative spirit. The increasing importance of social entrepreneurship for financing social service organizations was emphasized.

The overall objective of the campaign was to contribute to the expansion of social entrepreneurship in the cross-border region of Bulgaria-Greece by providing support for the social inclusion of vulnerable groups and by creating a common tool for promoting social entrepreneurship. It is in line with the TO 09 program: “Promoting social inclusion, combating poverty and all discrimination”.
